Nature Conservation Dresden

Our mission

The goals and most activities of Nature Conservation Dresden are the same as those of other conservation organisations:

to pass on a living planet to our children and children's children
to preserve biodiversity, and in particular,
to protect threatened plants, animals and ecosystems

The difference of our philosophy setting Nature Conservation Dresden apart from many other organisations is that we have learned that conservation concepts and efforts of administrations as well as independent organisations often fail because, in many cases, owners do not accept conservation programs to be performed on their land. Therefore Nature Conservation Dresden strives to purchase lands containing habitats of endangered species or communities.

Even small pieces of land and urban places are taken into account because they may serve as stepping-stone habitats thus contributing to a coherent ecological network. Agricultural or forest habitats will be extensively cultivated according to criteria of ecology and nature conservation.
